Individual
Psychotherapy

As the name implies, individual psychotherapy provides space for a single person to work with the therapist on personal issues that he or she has been facing. During the initial session with the therapist, he or she will review confidentiality, limits of confidentiality, informed consents, and other necessary information. Client will be asked questions related to his or her current or past relationships, psychiatric history, presenting problems, family dynamics, moods, appetite, sleep disturbance, concentration, and medication management. Client could use an initial appointment to see if he or she would be a good fit with the therapist.

Client and therapist could explore the expression of thoughts and emotions, behavior patterns, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and strengths and weaknesses in a comfortable, private setting.

Depending on the client's situation and the recommendations of the therapist, individual therapy could be short-term or long-term.

Individual therapy could help the client to gain a better understanding of him/herself, to learn how to handle emotions, to identify underlying causes of symptoms, to learn coping strategies to alleviate moods, to facilitate lifestyle changes, and to utilize resources.
